Mobilität im Fokus in Zentral-Mitteleuropa

Im Rahmen des CapaCity-Programms der Stadt Wien wurde am 26. und 27. September 2017 ein zweitägiger Workshop “Smart Mobility in the Cities and Regions of Centrope” (Smarte Mobilität in Städten und Regionen Mittel und Osteuropas) in Györ (Ungarn) veranstaltet.

Der Workshop brachte u.a. Experten aus Stadt- und Regionalverwaltungen, aus den Fachgebieten Planung, Stadt- und Regionalentwicklung, Transport und Mobilität zusammen. Der Austausch fokussierte auf technologische Innovationen und Herausforderungen der Mobilität sowie die Trends in den Bereichen  autonomen Fahrzeugen, E-Mobilität und neuen Sharing Modelle. Im Zentrum des Interesses waren Fragen nach den Strategien der Städte und Regionen im Hinblick auf diese Trends und wie diese Innovationen für deren Mobilitätspolitiken nutzen.

Der Workshop war als Austausch konzipiert und fokussierte auf Themen, die von großer Bedeutung für die Städte Mittel- und Osteuropas (Centrope) sind. Im weiteren grenzüberschreitenden Rahmen wurde Anliegen bezüglich einer besser koordinierten Transportinfrastruktur und einer Politik des öffentlichen Verkehrs diskutiert. Angesichts des steigenden Pendlerverkehrs (oftmals kombiniert mit ungünstigem modalem Split) wird dieses Anliegen in Zukunft mit noch mehr Nachdruck diskutiert werden müssen, um eine nachhaltige Entwicklung in der Region zu gewährleisten.

Mobilitätsstationen der Upstream – next level mobility

Im Rahmen des Workshops wurde auch die Tätigkeiten der Wiener Stadtwerke im Bereich Mobilitätsstationen vorgestellt, wie sie im Rahmen von Smarter Together in Wien pilothaft entwickelt werden.

Auf besonderes Interesse stieß das Wiener Stadtwerke-Tochterunternehmen „Upstream – next level mobility GmbH“, dass mit seiner digitalen „Mobility Service Plattform“ die einfache Zugänglichkeit zu den Services und Angeboten des Mobility Points ermöglicht.

Was ist CapaCity?

Das Programm CapaCity – Urban Competences ist eine Plattform der internationalen Zusammenarbeit der Stadt Wien, ihren Einrichtungen und anderen Städten. Mehrere Donauraum-Initiativen hatten bereits diese Zusammenarbeit gefördert und zu einer Intensivierung des sozialen und wirtschaftlichen Austausches zwischen der Staaten, Regionen und Städten geführt (z.B. EU-Erweiterung 2004 und 2007, die Schaffung der Europäischen Donauraumstrategie). Die Stadt Wien fördert weiterhin die Internationalisierung von Organisationen und Firmen um gemeinsame Projektideen zu entwickeln. Integrierte Stadtentwicklung mit einem holistischen Smart City Zugang stellt den Schwerpunkt der künftigen Aktivitäten im Rahmen des CapaCity Programms dar. nichtsdestotrotz ist die Magistratsabteilung Europäische Angelegenheiten (MA 27), die das Programm initiierte, bestrebt, die möglichen Kooperationsthemen auszuweiten.

CapaCity in Györ (Hungary)

On 26 and 27 of September 2017, the CapaCity Programme of the City of Vienna held a knowledge transfer conference in the Hungarian City of Györ focusing on urban mobility and the establishment of multimodal mobility services in the participant’s regions.

The two-day workshop “Smart Mobility in the Cities and Regions of Centrope” in Györ brought together experts from municipal and regional administration, planning, urban and regional development professionals, transport & mobility experts, etc. to discuss technological innovations and disruptions that go along with the trends towards autonomous/automative-driving vehicles, e-mobility and new sharing models in the field of mobility. Questions how cities and regions actively adapt to the new trends and use innovations for their mobility policies were a main focus of the debate.

In the workshop, “Upstream – next level mobility”, a subsidiary of Vienna’s municipal infrastructure provider “Wiener Stadtwerke”, presented its digital “Mobility Service Platform”, which gathered lots of attention. The platform enables the easy access to the different services and offers of the Mobility Point.

The workshop was conceived as a two-way exchange and focused on a topic that is of high relevance for all cities of the Centrope area. At a wider, cross-border level, the debate at the workshop brought up again the issue of a better coordinated transport infrastructure and public transport policy. Given the increase in commuter traffic (often combined with an unfavourable modal split), the issue will need to be addressed with more energy in the future in order to ensure a sustainable development of the region.

What is CapaCity?

„The CapaCity – Urban Competences program pursues a deepened international cooperation between the City of Vienna, its organizations and other cities. Several initiatives in the Danube region have already promoted the cooperation and intensification of social and economic exchange between countries, regions and cities (f.i. the enlargement of the European Union in 2004 & 2007; the establishment of the European Strategy for the Danube Region). Nevertheless, the City of Vienna now focuses on the internationalization of organizations and companies in order to generate common project ideas. Integrated urban development as a holistic smart city approach is the main aspect of future activities within the CapaCity program, but the Municipal Department for European Affairs (MA 27), as initiator of the program, also pursues to widen the range of topics for city cooperations.“
