Zwei neue WienMobil Stationen eröffnet

New WienMobil stations on the Rochusmarkt and Richard-Wagner-Platz – stations connect public transport with city bike, car sharing, hire scooters – new partners in the WienMobil app

Wiener Linien is expanding its range of WienMobil stations. The first location near the subway station Simmering are now completing new stations at the Richard-Wagner-Platz in Ottakring and at the Rochusmarkt in Landstraße. The grand opening was on September 20, 2019, others will follow in 2020.

At the WienMobil stations, the Viennese can also rent bikes, car sharing, e-bikes and scooters, as well as charging stations for electric cars, in addition to bim, bus and subway. The Wiener Linien thus provide an ideal link between public transport and flexible individual offers on the „last mile“ between home or work and the nearest public transport stop.

Traffic reduction and reduced CO2 footprint

The WienMobil stations help to reduce traffic, because users can do without private cars thanks to flexible offers. On average, they save more than € 6,000 in car costs a year and reduce their carbon footprint.

Tailored offer for all situations

„The future of urban transport is flexible. Thanks to our WienMobil stations, the Viennese receive a tailor-made offer and can conveniently switch between public transport and sharing services – just as they would like best in the current situation, „says Alexandra Reinagl, Managing Director of Wiener Linien.

The mobility offers are provided directly by the respective cooperation partners. At both new locations there are city bike stations and car sharing from „Stadtauto“ as well as the rental cars of the ÖAMTC sharing service „easy way“. In addition to wheel parking, the WienMobil stations also have special parking spaces for e-scooters, which are used by „Circ“ and „Tier“. The charging stations for electric cars are operated by Wien Energie.

New partners in the WienMobil app

All WienMobil stations and their mobility services are integrated into the WienMobil app. With the current update, the WienMobil app also includes two new mobility partners with their range across the whole of Vienna. The e-scooters from „Circ“ and the cars of the ÖBB car-sharing service „Rail & Drive“ are now visible in the app. In addition to these two providers, Citybike, car2go, DriveNow, Europcar, easy way, the City Airport Train, the Westbahn, the Vienna Airport Lines, the Funktaxizentralen and WiPark garages are all integrated in WienMobil.

WienMobil is the mobility app of Wiener Linien. In addition to the timetable information and all the real-time information provided by Wiener Linien and the mobility partners‘ offer, it also includes digital public transport tickets. More than 375,000 passengers already have access to the digital annual pass in the app. Thanks to the push function, WienMobil users are always informed about the current traffic situation.

From the pilot project to the Vienna-wide offer

The first WienMobil Stations (WMS) was conceived as part of Smarter Together in Simmering and opened in September 2018 (https://www.smartertogether.at/wienmobil-station-eroeffnet/). It was the first of a first pilot series to test this offer in dialogue with the public – the users – and with the partners. Further WMS will be set up in 2020.
